“Progress for Humanity” Hyundai Motor India Foundation invites applications

Under the global brand vision of “Progress for Humanity” Hyundai Motor India Foundation, the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd has an unwavering commitment toward sustainable future under project ‘Continue’.

The three key areas of focus under ‘Continue’ are Earth, Mobility, and Hope.

‘Earth’ represents concern for environmental issues manifested through projects in forest conservation, improving water positivity and reducing carbon footprint.

‘Mobility’ enhances safety and convenience for the community by removing impediments for safer roads and improving accessibility.

‘Hope’ opens up for new possibilities for a better quality of life be it through youth upskilling, innovation, employment generation or even improving infrastructure for better well-being of community.

A one-of-its-kind project inspired by Hyundai’s global vision of ‘ Progress for Humanity’, the Art for hope program aims to revive traditional art and create awareness amongst youth. The program endeavours to showcase India’s rich art, craft and culture while helping elevate the lives of artisans and craftspersons.

Terms & Conditions

Eligibility: Project proposals are invited from individual artists or collective/institutions/ foundations at any stage, in their practice across domains viz., visual art, performance art, digital art, folk & traditional arts and crafts (hereinafter called as the “Art”) in the following categories:

Institutional Grant – Registered NGO/Trust/Museum/Association/Collective or Social Enterprise
Individual Grant
Practicing artist under the age of 40
Having formally trained in arts for a minimum period of 3-4 years, unless a traditional and folk artist
Must have artisan card in case of traditional artist
Primary occupation of the participant should be Art
Project proposals must be for community relevant social & environmental causes unless in support of recognized traditional arts & crafts
Grant is open only to Indians citizens residing in India
Program is intended to support artists who do not have a platform to showcase their art and promote Indian art and culture. Therefore, preference would be given to youth, women and artist from non-metro cities.

How to apply
The participants shall submit on the website www.hyundaiartforhope.com by providing the details in the form along with project proposal in any Indian language in not more than 800-1000 words including –

Proposal: Motivation, process and outcome of project
Timeline and detailed budget of project
Bio-data and artist statement
Portfolio
1 reference letter
Government identity card – Aadhar, Pan

Selection criteria: Complete application which fulfils maximum eligibility criteria will be considered.
Artists who have already availed grants or aids from HMIF or other organizations are advised not to apply.
A panel of jury appointed by HMIF will select artists for awarding Grants on following criteria:
Artist portfolio and project proposal
Quality of art
Community/social impact of proposed project
Originality of concept

Purpose of Grant:The Grant is to support artists towards procuring material for the project or livelihood in case materials are already available
Artist will use the Grant to complete the projects as proposed in his/her/ their proposals
The Grant will be distributed in two phases – 50% upon selecting artist for the project and 50% post submission of complete report and display of works in public exhibition.

Deliverables:The Grant shall be used to execute an art project for public viewing on a socially relevant awareness theme.

Projects can be located anywhere in India and completed within 22-28 weeks of Grant announcement. Project in whole or part will be displayed in public exhibition in Delhi/NCR or Chennai
After 30 days of receiving the full Grant, the artists must submit a 1000-word report on the utilization of the funds inclusive of process images, text and description of work done using the Grant
HMIF’s advisory committee will mentor, advise and guide on the project execution. Advisor may direct artists to work in collaboration

Selected grantees/artists shall sign a letter of undertaking with HMIF.

Art by artist will be original, innovative and not copied or translated from any source and if art contains content that depicts racial abuse, violence, immoral, unethical, illegal, anti-social, obscene, anti-religious, inflammatory or defamatory, pornographic, vulgar, nudity or promotes discrimination, bigotry, racism, hatred, or otherwise objectionable of any kind, will be rejected by HMIF.

Artist will permit HMIF to use the Art, photography/image, video, etc. including making/printing of Catalogue of Arts or documentation of Arts and other personal information without any restrictions for advertisements, marketing & promotion and/or other purposes and also shall participate in the joint press conference.

ARTIST/GRANTEE shall keep confidentiality and shall not disclose to any third party confidential information, which shall without limitation include proprietary, technological, economic, legal, administrative business, etc, without the prior written consent of HMIF.

Intellectual property rights on the art developed by artist shall be with the ARTIST and HMIF is free to use the art without any fee, on non-exclusive and non-transferable basis. All intellectual property rights on reports, document or materials prepared or inventions or information produced as a result of the performance by the ARTIST/GRANTEE, shall be and remain the property of HMIF.
