Al Qasimi Foundation Seed Grants: Funding for Applied Research and Initiatives

Posted on February 22, 2024February 22, 2024 By admin No Comments on Al Qasimi Foundation Seed Grants: Funding for Applied Research and Initiatives

Deadline to Apply is 1 April 2024 ..The Al Qasimi Foundation’s Seed Grants offer start-up funding of up to 50,000 AED for individuals and organizations to conduct applied research or pilot initiatives outside the scope of the Doctoral and Faculty Research programs. These grants are open to applicants from the United Arab Emirates and overseas, encompassing a wide range of disciplines and professional fields.

The allocation of grant funds is based on the proposal’s budget and can be utilized for various purposes, including travel expenses, research assistant support, equipment purchases, translation services, event hosting, and printed materials. While the call for proposals is broad, the expected outcomes should tangibly benefit the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Long-term sustainability may also be considered based on the project goals.

Each year, up to two grants are awarded, and recipients are expected to write one to two policy papers upon the conclusion of their project. The Al Qasimi Foundation’s website provides samples of past research topics and policy papers written by grant recipients for reference.

The objectives of the Seed Grants are as follows:
1. Provide opportunities for individuals or organizations to conduct applied research or pilot initiatives that positively impact the Ras Al Khaimah community.
2. Encourage interdisciplinary thinking and solutions to public policy issues.
3. Foster high-quality research and development projects that enhance the local capacity of Ras Al Khaimah and the United Arab Emirates.
4. Promote collaboration among individuals, businesses, academic institutions, and government/non-government entities in Ras Al Khaimah, the United Arab Emirates, and overseas.

To be eligible for the Seed Grants, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Demonstrate collaboration between at least two different organizations, with one being based in the United Arab Emirates.
2. Illustrate the capacity to successfully undertake the proposed project or applied research based on prior experiences.
3. Leverage matching funds, expertise, or other in-kind resources to achieve anticipated goals and outcomes.
4. Focus the proposal on the United Arab Emirates, specifically the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, with Ras Al Khaimah being a significant emphasis and beneficiary of the project.
5. Address an education, public health, urban planning/development, or closely related public policy issue relevant to Ras Al Khaimah and the United Arab Emirates.
6. Demonstrate how the proposal aligns with the Al Qasimi Foundation’s 2019-2023 Research, Capacity Development, or Community Engagement strategies.
7. Address sustainability considerations and outline anticipated next steps once Seed Grant funding ends.

For more information and to apply, please visit the Al Qasimi Foundation’s website before the deadline of April 1st, 2024.
