THT Action Grant: Supporting Conservation Projects in India
The THT Action Grant, with a total of 25,00,000 INR, aims to provide support to individuals and organizations engaged in on-ground conservation projects in India. This grant specifically focuses on lesser-known species and habitats that require immediate conservation intervention.
Eligibility Criteria for Organizations
Organizations applying for the THT Action Grant must meet the following requirements:
- Have completed a minimum of 2 years of functional existence
- Have at least 2 years of experience in carrying out direct on-ground projects in conservation of India’s natural habitats and threatened species
- Be a registered not-for-profit entity in India, such as a society, trust, section 8 (previously section 25) company, or a registered institute under section 35(1)(ii) of the Income-tax Act, 1961
- Hold registration u/s 12ab of the Income-tax Act, 1961
- Possess an 80g certificate or, in the case of institutes, have approval by the central government under section 35(1)(ii) of the Income-tax Act, 1961
- Have a CSR-1 certificate
- Be able to provide registration documents, audited financials, tax certificates, bye-laws, FCRA (if applicable), and/or similar documents based on the nature of funding/donations received
Shortlisted organizations must be prepared to present the above-mentioned documents.
Eligibility Criteria for Individuals
Individuals applying for the THT Action Grant must meet the following criteria:
- Be based in India for the entire duration of the project, preferably full-time and in close proximity to the proposed project site
- Not be full-time employees of any registered not-for-profit entity in India (society, trust, section 8 company) as per the registration certificate
- Not be on the board of trustees or management committee of any registered not-for-profit entity in India (society, trust, section 8 company)
- Have a valid bank account based in India, proof of taxes paid, valid PAN card, and Aadhaar card
- Not pursue any full-time academic studies during the project period if selected as a grant recipient
The application period for the THT Conservation Grant and THT Action Grant is now open, with the last date to apply being July 1, 2024.
