Eligibility Criteria for Danforth Conservation Grants
When considering applying for the Danforth Conservation Grants, it is essential to understand the eligibility criteria clearly. Applicants must be affiliated with an organization, such as a non-governmental organization (NGO) or a university, that has the capability to receive funds. It’s important to note that this funding is awarded to organizations specifically, rather than to individuals. Additionally, there are no restrictions regarding the nationality of applicants, allowing for a global pool of potential candidates.
Application Requirements
All applications for the Danforth Conservation Grants must be submitted in English, and must be developed and drafted by the applicant. The use of generative artificial intelligence tools is strictly prohibited in the application process. Applications that are found to incorporate AI-generated content will be deemed ineligible. Furthermore, it is not a requirement for the Roger Williams Park Zoo to be a collaborator for an application.
Project Funding Considerations
It’s critical to recognize that expenses tied to project activities completed before receiving funding will not be eligible for grant support. Projects that involve highly invasive research or require the collection of specimens will also be excluded from consideration. However, partial funding may be feasible if a project component is independently supported or if additional funding sources are secured. Previous grantees may apply for a second year of support, provided they submit a new application along with a progress report from the prior year.
Applications are due by January 1, 2026. To prepare, ensure to include a completed application form, a detailed budget, a curriculum vitae (two pages maximum), two letters of recommendation, and a completed tax form (W-9 or W-8). For U.S. citizens or organizations, the W-9 form is necessary, whereas non-U.S. entities must use the W-8 form. Detailed guidelines are available for prospective applicants.
