Introduction to the HEAL Fellowship
The Solutions Journalism Network is excited to announce the third cycle of its HEAL Fellowship. This unique program will empower ten U.S. journalists to undertake impactful projects that focus on mental health issues affecting youth. Through rigorous solutions journalism, fellows will work to highlight effective reporting on topics such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, racism, and loneliness.
Fellowship Goals and Criteria
The primary aim of the HEAL Fellowship is to broaden access to solutions journalism among young audiences. Selected projects will be evaluated based on their strength in addressing equity and their alignment with four key criteria: helping to spread insightful reporting, expanding access to solutions-oriented content, assessing the impact of their work, and educating others on youth mental health reporting methodologies.
Application Details and Timeline
Applications for the HEAL Fellowship will be accepted from October 20 to November 17, 2025. Interested journalists need to submit a brief application, including a 60-second video. The application process should take no longer than an hour to complete. Successful applicants will receive support from a dedicated community of global solutions journalism fellows, professional development opportunities, and an honorarium of up to $5,000 aligned with their project scope. The fellowship kicks off with an introductory call scheduled for December 2, 2025.
