The Future of Life Institute (FLI) is inviting researchers to submit proposals for evaluating the artificial intelligence impact on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to poverty, healthcare, energy, and climate change. This call for proposals aims to assess the current and future effects of AI on these critical areas and to design global governance mechanisms or institutions that can ensure a secure future in the presence of advanced AI.
The proposals should outline the necessary specifications to achieve or maintain a secure world, considering the multitude of threats posed by advanced AI. Additionally, researchers are expected to justify whether global stability can be achieved by banning the creation of all AI systems, allowing only one central AI system to prevent the development of others, or creating multiple systems to enhance global stability. Each proposal should not only pitch a specific control mechanism but also make a compelling case for how humanity can be kept safe in a particular future scenario.
artificial intelligence impact -In addition to the call for proposals, FLI is also accepting submissions for its AI Existential Safety Membership Community. This community is open to AI researchers who are interested in ensuring the safety and beneficial outcomes of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), if it is ever developed. Accepted members will have their profiles featured on the FLI website and will have access to a range of membership benefits.
