Empowering Future Environmental Scientists Through Grants

Introduction to YLACES Grants

Grant Application Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists (YLACES) is committed to empowering the rising generation of K-12 students with scientific thinking abilities. The grants provided by YLACES enable students to engage in meaningful environmental research, allowing them to become citizen scientists in their own right.

Research Grants for Educators

Educators in the U.S. have the opportunity to apply for grants of up to $1,500.00. These funds are designed to facilitate equipment acquisition and logistical support necessary for student-led environmental research. By participating in this initiative, students will develop research projects and share their findings on publicly available platforms, such as school websites, Purple Air, or CiTSCI.

Local Student Research Symposiums

In addition to research grants, YLACES also offers funding for local student research symposiums (SRS) aimed at enhancing student engagement and exposure in STEM fields. Grants of up to $5,000 are available for U.S. environmental educators and organizations willing to organize one-day events. These symposiums will draw participants from various schools or districts and incorporate peer review processes along with professional insights from STEM specialists.

Although international grants are also available, they require endorsement from the GLOBE program in respective countries, allowing educators around the world to advance youth environmental research. By leveraging funds and forming partnerships, YLACES hopes to expand the impact of funded projects and develop sustaining multi-year collaborations.
