Request for Proposal – GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) Nepal 2025

The Global Environment Facility’s Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP), implemented by UNDP Nepal, invites proposals from local NGOs and community-based organizations for projects that address environmental challenges while promoting sustainable development and community resilience.


 Areas of Support

Eligible proposals must align with one or more of the following priority areas:

  • Biodiversity Conservation
  • Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation
  • Land Degradation & Sustainable Land Management
  • Sustainable Forest Management
  • International Waters Protection
  • Chemicals & Waste Management

Projects should demonstrate strong community engagement, innovation, and measurable environmental impact.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Who Can Apply:
    • Registered NGOs and CBOs in Nepal
    • Indigenous Peoples’ organizations
    • Youth-led and women-led initiatives
    • Academic institutions with community partnerships
  • Funding Range:
    • Up to $50,000 for standard projects
    • Up to $150,000 for strategic, scalable initiatives
  • Geographic Scope:
    • Projects must be implemented within Nepal and benefit local communities.
