The Steel Charitable Trust’s rolling grants programme provides discretionary grants to organizations that demonstrate the potential to make a significant impact. This open application grant-making policy outlines the eligibility criteria and guidelines for applying for grants from the Trust. Applications are accepted throughout the year from all regions of the United Kingdom and are assessed four times annually, with specific cut-off dates for each meeting.

Eligibility

1. Organization Structure: The Trust considers applications from registered charities, including Charitable Incorporated Organizations (CIOs), operating in any part of the United Kingdom. It also accepts applications from exempt charities as defined in the Charities Act 2011, and their equivalents in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Additionally, municipally-funded museums not included in the Charities Act 2011 are eligible. However, applications from individuals, charities registered outside the UK, charities without at least one year of accounts, community interest companies, and political parties will not be considered.

2. Organization Size: To be eligible, applicants must have an annual turnover of over £50,000, which includes 100% of charitable income and proceeds from any trading activities.

3. Organization Beneficiaries: While most grants are awarded to organizations benefiting people within the UK, applications from charities registered in the UK that have projects benefiting people outside the UK may also be considered.

Grant Purposes, Sizes, and Restrictions

1. Categories: Applications must align with one of the following core categories: Arts and Heritage, Education, Environment, Health, or Social or Economic Disadvantage. Applications for purposes outside these categories are only accepted by direct invitation from a Trustee.

2. Grant Sizes: The Steel Charitable Trust does not specify a minimum or maximum grant size, as each application is assessed individually based on its potential impact.

3. Restrictions: The Trust does not provide grants to individuals, political parties, or organizations that do not meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

By following these guidelines, organizations can apply for grants from The Steel Charitable Trust’s rolling grants programme and contribute to making a positive difference in their respective fields.
