Apply by 21 March 2024 – The UNCCD Land Heroes campaign is a platform that recognizes and supports young individuals and youth-led organizations who are making positive impacts in the fight against desertification, land degradation, and drought. Through online engagement, the campaign aims to raise awareness, share success stories, and empower youth as change agents in sustainable land management.
The campaign is an integral part of the Land for Life Programme, which seeks to promote the objectives of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). By highlighting the efforts of young land heroes, the campaign aims to inspire and mobilize more youth to actively participate in sustainable land management practices.
The Land Heroes campaign has been successful in its inaugural 2020 cohort, and now it continues to build on that momentum with the second cohort. These young land heroes are making significant contributions in their communities and beyond, implementing innovative solutions to combat desertification, restore degraded land, and mitigate the impact of drought.
Through the campaign, these young individuals and youth-led organizations are given a platform to showcase their work and share their success stories. By doing so, they not only inspire others but also create a network of like-minded individuals who can collaborate and learn from each other’s experiences.
The UNCCD Land Heroes campaign is an important initiative that recognizes the power of youth in addressing pressing environmental challenges. By empowering young people and involving them in sustainable land management, we can create a more resilient and sustainable future for our planet.
Join the Land Heroes campaign and be part of the movement to combat desertification, land degradation, and drought. Together, we can make a difference and protect our precious land resources for generations to come.
