Global EbA Fund: Catalyzing Climate Change Adaptation through Nature-Based Solutions

The Global EbA Fund: Catalyzing Climate Change Adaptation through Nature-Based Solutions
The Global EbA Fund, implemented by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), is a funding mechanism that aims to support catalytic, innovative, and inclusive projects focused on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA). This fund is made possible through the generous support of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV). EbA is a nature-based solution that utilizes biodiversity and ecosystem services to enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities and ecosystems to the impacts of climate change. By harnessing the power of nature, EbA offers a sustainable approach to reducing vulnerability and building resilience. The Global EbA Fund plays a crucial role in creating an enabling environment for the implementation of EbA projects. It aims to connect and contribute to the delivery of global agendas on the Climate Change – Biodiversity nexus. The fund focuses on strategic objectives that define the overarching aim and direction for projects, while also providing three action pillars that guide how these objectives can be achieved. Projects seeking funding from the Global EbA Fund must contribute to the strategic objectives and align with a maximum of two action pillars. While field interventions are allowed if justified, proposals should primarily focus on creating enabling environments for the uptake and mainstreaming of EbA to climate change. The application process for the Global EbA Fund’s 7th cohort requires submission through the online platform. Applicants are encouraged to prepare their applications offline and transfer the information onto the portal when ready. Both general and thematic funding tracks are accepted, and the application documents remain the same as before. For further inquiries or assistance, interested parties can reach out to

The Global EbA Fund is a vital resource for catalyzing climate change adaptation through nature-based solutions. Through its strategic funding approach, it aims to create a more resilient future for vulnerable communities and ecosystems worldwide.
