Audiobox Responsible Generation Grant

Audiobox Responsible Generation Grant: Advancing Responsible AI and Innovation in Audio Generation
The FAIR (Fundamental AI Research) team at Meta has introduced Audiobox, a foundation audio generative model that offers enhanced controllability for creating custom voices and sound effects. By combining voice inputs and natural language text, Audiobox enables users to easily generate speech, voices, and sound effects for various applications. To promote responsible AI research in the field of audio and speech, Meta is providing access to Audiobox models and relevant code artifacts to researchers at academic institutions and research labs. Additionally, Meta is offering funding grants of up to $50,000 to support further advancements in this area. Meta recognizes that addressing issues in audio and speech research requires collaboration and a diverse set of partners.

Therefore, Meta is launching a call for proposals from two groups of researchers:

1. Researchers focused on Responsible AI Research: This group aims to advance areas such as safety, fairness, ethics, and impersonation/deepfake detection. The goal is to enable the use of speech and audio models in a responsible and safe manner.

2. Researchers focused on advancing speech and audio generation performance: This group will leverage Audiobox models to push the boundaries of state-of-the-art audio generation. Meta is seeking to partner with up to 10 academic and research organizations that have initiatives focused on Responsible AI, Safety, Ethics, and Audio/Speech research. Each selected institution will receive a grant of up to $50,000 to support their work. Applications should include a clear research agenda, the anticipated impact of the project, a plan with milestones, and a budget outline. Priority will be given to organizations and researchers who prioritize Responsible AI and address areas such as safety, fairness, ethics, and impersonation/deepfake detection. Recipients of the grants will not only gain access to Audiobox models and code artifacts but also contribute to the democratization of audio generation capabilities. Meta believes that such research breakthroughs will lower the barrier of accessibility for audio creation, allowing anyone to become an audio content creator. Application dates for the Audiobox Responsible Generation Grant will be announced soon. Stay tuned for further updates and instructions on how to apply.
