The Mangrove Breakthrough is an innovative global initiative that seeks to transform how mangroves are valued, managed, and protected. This movement focuses on uniting governments, investors, civil society, and local communities to drive systemic change in mangrove conservation. With a mobilization of $4 billion, the goal is to secure the future of over 15 million hectares of mangroves by 2030, ensuring their vital role in climate regulation and biodiversity preservation.
What Projects Are Being Sought?
We invite a wide range of projects and enterprises that align with the objectives of the Mangrove Breakthrough. Ideal submissions will focus on nature-based or nature-tech solutions that promote mangrove protection, restoration, and sustainable practices. Key activities may include:
- Mangrove protection, restoration, or regenerative practices
- Blue carbon finance initiatives
- Biodiversity crediting and climate-linked financial tools
- Community-based approaches supporting livelihoods
- Technological solutions for monitoring and impact assessment
- Developing mangrove-positive businesses
