Introduction to the Leadership Program

Empowering Emerging African Women with SHEAF Fellowships – The African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) is excited to announce its latest leadership program designed specifically for young women (under 35) in the field of agricultural science. This nine-month capacity-building initiative aims to equip emerging leaders from Kenya, Malawi, and Senegal with the essential skills to transform agricultural practices and policies.

Program Objectives and Structure

Empowering Emerging African Women with SHEAF Fellowships-The primary objective of this program is to build a new generation of confident and capable African women leaders in agriculture. Participants will undergo structured training that focuses on critical skills such as leadership, communication, and mentoring, all while integrating gender perspectives into their research. The program includes valuable peer engagement and mentorship opportunities, enabling participants to learn from experienced professionals in the field.

This initiative is financially supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York and is a non-residential program.
