Call of Proposals for Local Projects on Education & Youth Development for FY2024 (Deadline: January 31, 2024)

The Asian Community Trust (ACT) aims to build a “Bridge of Mutual Help and Resource Sharing” in civil societies across Asia. To pursue this aim, ACT assists projects developed by local people’s groups, NGOs and other civil society organizations with the purpose of improving people’s quality of life in their own communities and sharing their successes with others.

Project Criteria
The Asian Community Trust (ACT) provides financial assistance to projects developed by local people, NGOs, and civil society organizations in Asia. To be eligible for funding, projects must align with the following criteria:

Area of Focus: Education and Youth Development (Scholarship type); Education and Youth Development (Non-scholarship type)

Conditions / Criteria for Project Selection:

Community participation

Self-reliance enhancement (long-term viability / mobilization of local human, technological, and financial resources)

Innovation and replicability

Environmental sustainability

Gender sensitivity:Openness and partnership with other NGOs, civil society organizations, government, business, and other sectors

Promotion of social enterprises ensuring sustainability of the communities
Countries of Focus: Cambodia, Indonesia, and the Philippines

Applicant Organizations: Must have legal status or be registered with a responsible public entity. Transparency about activities and financial condition is required.

Project Costs: ACT supports necessary project costs, with grant amounts ranging from 750,000 to 2,000,000 Japanese Yen per project. Administrative costs may be covered depending on the status of applicant organizations.

Grant Period: In principle, ACT supports one to three-year projects. Extension of the grant period beyond three years requires approval from the ACT Executive Advisory Committee. Projects must align with the Japanese financial calendar (April to March).

Grant Disbursement: Grants approved by ACT will be paid in two installments. The first installment will be remitted in June 2024 after the submission of a Letter of Acceptance by the project proponent. The second installment will be remitted around December 2024 after ACT receives an interim report on the project’s progress and financial status.

Please note that the grant amount approved by ACT will be paid in Japanese yen, and the foreign exchange rate on the day of remittance will be followed.
