What is the KBF Africa Prize?
The KBF Africa Prize is a prestigious award given every two years to African organizations that are making significant contributions to societal transformation and sustainable improvement of living conditions in Africa. Established by the King Baudouin Foundation, this prize not only acknowledges the efforts of these organizations but enhances their visibility on both European and international platforms.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
To qualify for the KBF Africa Prize 2025-2026, organizations must be based in Africa, led and managed by Africans. Specific guidelines have been set to ensure diversity among the laureates, particularly this edition, calling for organizations from Somalia and Tanzania—previous laureates—to refrain from applying. Additionally, organizations focused on themes such as peace-building and women’s economic empowerment are also requested to abstain, as these issues were addressed by earlier winners.
Benefits of Winning the KBF Africa Prize
The KBF Africa Prize offers more than a monetary award of €250,000. Winning organizations gain unique opportunities to showcase their causes to international audiences, enhancing their capacity to create a lasting impact. The prize also highlights diverse and inspiring stories of change emerging from the African continent, showcasing resilience and adaptability in addressing ongoing challenges.
Interested organizations should submit their projects by March 3, 2025. For more details and eligibility information, visit the KBF Africa Prize official website.
