The New Zealand Embassy Fund-Mongolia is a fund managed by the New Zealand Embassy in China, dedicated to supporting community groups and NGOs in Mongolia. The fund aims to empower local organizations to undertake small-scale, short-term projects that contribute to the well-being of the wider community.
For the 2023-2024 funding cycle, applications for the New Zealand Embassy Fund (Mongolia) must be submitted to the New Zealand Embassy in China between September 11th and October 6th, 2023. Each project can receive a maximum funding of USD5,000.
Purpose
The primary objective of the fund is to promote sustainable development in developing countries, with a focus on poverty reduction and creating a more secure, equitable, and prosperous world. In light of the challenges posed by COVID-19, the embassy is particularly interested in projects that address social and health issues arising from the pandemic.
Eligibility
The New Zealand Embassy Fund (Mongolia) is primarily targeted at community groups and NGOs. However, schools, business associations, and other types of organizations may also apply with prior confirmation from the New Zealand High Commission/Embassy. Individual businesses are not eligible for funding.
Duration
Individual projects can receive support for a maximum of two years. It is possible for the fund to support multiple projects by the same partner over an extended period.
Exclusions
The fund does not provide support for political, religious, or evangelical activities. However, faith-based groups can apply if their proposed projects align with the fund’s purpose, do not exclude followers of other religions, and do not involve proselytizing. The fund also does not cover site visits, unsolicited donations, individual student scholarships, international airfares or overseas conference attendance, or ongoing funding for operational/organizational costs.
