Understanding Funding Criteria at the Leopold Bachmann Foundation

Introduction to the Leopold Bachmann Foundation

The Leopold Bachmann Foundation is committed to supporting projects that align with its mission and focus areas. Our intention is to fund initiatives by selected partner organizations that promote positive change and societal advancement. To facilitate a smooth application process, we have established specific funding criteria that prospective applicants must meet.

Content Criteria for Grant Applications

To be considered for funding, grant applications must directly align with our key thematic topics and fall within our designated focus countries. This ensures that the projects we support are relevant and impactful. It is crucial for applicants to demonstrate how their initiatives resonate with the foundation’s objectives, as proposals that do not meet these content criteria will unfortunately not be considered.

Structural Criteria for Eligible Organizations

The foundation emphasizes selecting organizations that exhibit a strong local presence and operate at various levels, from regional to international. Eligible organizations must have a stable structure, commitment to transparency, and the ability to provide detailed annual reports. Furthermore, we assess an applicant’s ability to measure their impact on target groups and their environments, as continuous evaluation is essential. We encourage shared learning and networking among organizations to maximize the overall effectiveness of funded projects.

Importantly, there are areas we do not fund. This includes individual applications, budget deficits, ongoing operational costs, infrastructure projects, emergency relief, and one-off grants. For more detailed information on the application process, please visit our website.

We are committed to the following key thematic topics:
