Scope of the Window
Supported by the Government of Canada, the window aims to award early-stage grant funding for designing and launching innovative blended finance vehicles at the intersection of climate change and gender equality in emerging markets. The initiative seeks to mobilize private sector capital and integrate gender equality into the design, implementation, and operations of these vehicles. The window aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 5 (Gender Equality), 13 (Climate Action), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
Types of Funding Available
Applicants can apply for feasibility study or proof-of-concept funding. Feasibility study grants range from USD 40,000 to USD 190,000, focusing on assessing the investability and bankability of the vehicle, market scoping, gender analysis, and stakeholder consultations. Promising feasibility studies may be considered for follow-on proof-of-concept funding.
Proof-of-concept grants range from USD 190,000 to USD 500,000. These funds can be used to finalize the capital structure, conduct fundraising and marketing activities, select implementing partners, and develop a gender action plan based on prior feasibility work. Applications must demonstrate investor interest and commitment and present a financial model.
