Introduction to WUN Research Development Fund 2025
The WUN Research Development Fund (RDF) is excited to announce that the 2025 grant round is now open for applications. This initiative, which has been running for sixteen years, offers grants up to £10,000 to researchers at member universities. These grants play a significant role in fostering collaborative research that addresses pressing global issues, contributing to sustainable development.
Impact and Collaboration through RDF
Since its inception in 2009, the RDF has invested over £3.2 million to support impactful research projects. The aim is to stimulate collaborations among academic staff across the WUN network, leading to influential publications and more robust proposals for major grants. This year, as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainable research, the RDF encourages participation from researchers at all career stages, with a particular emphasis on projects led by early career researchers.
Application Process and Guidelines
Proposals must be submitted through our online portal no later than Friday, 17 October 2025, at 21.00 UK time. Each member university has its internal deadlines, so interested researchers should reach out to their local WUN coordinators early in the process. Applications will be evaluated based on academic quality and relevance to sustainable development themes, ensuring that funded projects address significant problems in areas like social justice, urbanization, mental health, and ethical AI applications.
