ACCAN Grants Program 2024: Apply Now

ACCAN Grants Program 2024: Apply Now! The 2024 Grants Round for the ACCAN Grants Program is now open for applications. If you have a great idea to address systemic communications consumer issues, this is your chance to make a difference. The deadline for submission is Friday 23rd February, 2024, 5pm AEDT.

Who can apply? Community organisations, local councils, and universities are eligible to apply for the grants. All you need is an ABN and some innovative ideas. To get an idea of the kind of projects that have been funded in the past, visit our website to see previous grant recipients. We strongly encourage partnerships, especially those that ensure consumers are appropriately represented in your work.

What is eligible? Eligible projects should focus on addressing systemic communications consumer issues. These issues are persistent, widespread, and affect consumers in their use of telecommunications, internet, and digital platform services. The projects can benefit the general public or specific communities, such as children, older people, or people with disabilities. However, they should have the potential to benefit multiple sectors. Examples of eligible projects include those that address consumer rip-offs or debt issues related to phone or internet usage. Projects studying the regulatory space for communications services in Australia are also welcome. Your project should fill an identified gap and improve telecommunications goods, services, or information for Australian consumers. Before applying, make sure to review ACCAN’s strategic plan, policy priorities, and website.

What won’t get funded? While projects that use apps, websites, or other technologies to benefit Australian consumers in areas such as health, education, or arts are valuable, they fall outside the scope of the ACCAN Grants Program. Your project should demonstrate outcomes specifically for communications consumers. Additionally, the program does not fund the purchase of ICT equipment for personal or organizational use.
