Call for Proposals: EKOenergy’s Climate Fund: EKOenergy’s Climate Fund is inviting proposals for short-term renewable energy projects in low- and middle-income countries. The fund aims to support solar PV and wind electricity projects that align with EKOenergy’s mission of promoting renewable energy and contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
Organizations that have not received grants from EKOenergy’s Climate Fund before can apply for grants ranging from €15,000 to €40,000 per project. For those who have received grants in 2022 or 2023, the grant amount can be up to €60,000.
Proposals should be coordinated by experienced non-profit NGOs and implemented in collaboration with local communities, enterprises, and other relevant stakeholders. The fund particularly encourages proposals from Malaysia, South Africa, and India, as there is a growing interest among EKOenergy consumers to support initiatives in these regions.
Applicants must demonstrate their organizational capacity and alignment with EKOenergy’s strategic goals. Successful projects will take a holistic approach, benefit communities in various ways, and promote renewable energy not only within but also outside the served community.
Proposals should include a project plan with a clear exit strategy, a communication plan, and a rough budget. The reviewers will assess the potential impact of the requested funding, so it is important to provide details on the planned installation capacity and the estimated number of people that the project activities aim to reach.
Interested organizations can submit their proposals in their preferred format, as long as they are within three pages (excluding the optional front page) and in PDF format. The application must be written in English. The deadline for submission is Friday, 9th February.
Upon submission, proposals will be shared with reviewers, including the EKOenergy Secretariat and a group of external experts. It is important to note that all proposals will be retained for monitoring beyond the call period, so confidential material should be excluded.
