Open Call for Innovation: Food Security South and South East Asia

The Open Call for Innovation (OCFI) is a unique opportunity to tackle the challenges of food production and sustainability. Its primary goal is to promote the efficient and sustainable usage of water and energy along the entire value chain, from farming to end-users. By doing so, the OCFI aims to have a positive impact on food security, gender equality, and poverty reduction, all while ensuring environmental sustainability.

Individual awards under the OCFI are anticipated to range from US$25,000 to US$200,000, depending on the requested funding. It is important to note that awardees are expected to contribute a minimum 1-1 matching amount themselves, ensuring a shared commitment to the project’s success. The period of performance for each award is up to two years, with the specific duration determined at the time of award.

Through the OCFI, the focus is on co-creating scalable solutions in the WE4F (Water, Energy, Food, and Finance) nexus, specifically in the South Asia Southeast Asia region. This initiative combines various forms of support, including technical assistance, investment facilitation, enabling environment support, and grants, to help scale WE4F innovators. The ultimate aim is to enhance the innovators’ ability to scale commercially while fostering sustainable and inclusive business models.

Each grant award, valued up to US$200,000 USD, is offered on a 1:1 match basis, accompanied by technical assistance and/or investment facilitation support. The period of performance for these grants extends up to two years or until March 2025.
