For Every Child, a Champion

Background:

Civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS), with a specific focus on birth registration and legal identity, is a key priority for UNICEF Nigeria. It is also one of the eight key results for children (KRCs) in the West and Central Africa region (WCAR). UNICEF Nigeria has made significant progress in increasing birth registration coverage, with a high annual rate of change. In 2023, UNICEF supported the Government of Nigeria through the National Population Council (NPC) and other relevant ministries, departments, and agencies to register over 11 million births of children under the age of five.

If you are passionate about child protection and want to make a difference, this is an opportunity for you to contribute to our mission. As a Child Protection Specialist, you will play a crucial role in promoting birth registration and legal identity for all children in Nigeria. Your expertise and dedication will help ensure that every child’s rights are protected and that they have access to essential services and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

– Collaborate with government partners, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for improving birth registration and legal identity.

– Provide technical support and guidance to ensure the effective implementation of birth registration programs.

– Conduct research and analysis to inform evidence-based policies and interventions in the field of child protection.

– Advocate for the rights of children and raise awareness about the importance of birth registration and legal identity.
