Introduction to IKI Small Grants
The IKI Small Grants program has recently opened its sixth call for proposals, providing a unique opportunity for small organizations in ODA-eligible countries to receive funding for local climate and biodiversity action. This initiative is part of the International Climate Initiative (IKI) launched by the German federal government.
Funding Details
Organizations can apply for funding ranging from €60,000 to €200,000. This year’s enhanced focus allows small regional, national, and local organizations (excluding current and potential EU member candidates, save for Ukraine) to participate, fostering grassroots initiatives that directly address climate change and biodiversity loss.
How to Apply
Proposals must concentrate on key areas, including the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions, adaptation to climate change effects, and the conservation of natural carbon sinks. Furthermore, they should aim to protect biological diversity. The selected projects will not only receive financial backing but will also benefit from the support of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, which administers the IKI Small Grants program on behalf of Germany’s federal ministries.
To apply for this funding opportunity, visit the IKI Small Grants website for comprehensive details, including eligibility criteria and application guidelines. Remember, the deadline for submission is January 15, 2025, so don’t miss your chance to contribute to meaningful climate action.
