What Are Global Grants?
Global grants play an essential role in supporting large international activities that aim for sustainable and measurable outcomes in various focus areas of Rotary. By collaborating to address genuine community needs, clubs and districts can strengthen their global partnerships. These grants can fund important initiatives such as humanitarian projects, scholarships for graduate-level studies, and vocational training teams.
Funding Global Grants
A minimum budget of $30,000 is required to apply for global grants, with a maximum World Fund award of $400,000. Grant sponsors have the flexibility to use a combination of resources, including district designated funds (DDF), cash contributions, and directed gift amounts. Notably, the foundation provides an 80 percent World Fund match for all DDF contributions, further encouraging financial support for deserving projects.
The Application Process
Prior to applying, both the district or club executing the activity and the international partner district or club must be qualified. To understand the qualification process, your club and district Rotary Foundation chairs are valuable resources. It’s crucial to consult local experts early in your planning to formulate a robust project plan and grant application. Importantly, applications are accepted all year round and are reviewed continuously, which allows for flexibility in project execution.
