Supporting Local Initiatives: The Canada Fund for Local Initiatives – Armenia (2024)

Introduction to the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives

The Embassy of Canada accredited to the Republic of Armenia is thrilled to announce the launch of its annual call for proposals for the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) – Arnold Chan Initiative for Democracy in Armenia. This program is designed to support small-scale, high-impact projects in developing countries, aligning with Global Affairs Canada’s thematic priority areas for engagement.

Program Details and Objectives

The CFLI focuses on projects conceived and designed predominantly by local partners. These projects are selected and approved by the relevant Canadian embassy or high commission. The main goals are to support positive bilateral relations between Canada and recipient countries, deepen contacts, and assist local endeavours. The average CFLI contribution ranges from $25,000 to $40,000 CAD, with a maximum allocation of $100,000 CAD. Contributions are made in Canadian dollars and converted to local currency.

Application Guidelines and Deadlines

Proposals from all regions of Armenia are encouraged, with a particular emphasis on expanding engagement with the Syunik region in 2024. All projects must be completed between the date of signature of the contribution agreement and February 28, 2025. The deadline for submission is July 1, 2024, at 23:59 (GMT 4). Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered. Proposals must be submitted electronically to yervn.g@international.gc.ca using the designated application form and required budget document.

Eligibility and Contact Information

Eligible recipients include local non-governmental, community, and not-for-profit organizations, local academic institutions, and international non-governmental organizations working on local development activities.
